Barnfield Wood Road

One of my clients asked me to assist him in designing a pool with summerhouse for his garden.

As the pool would be of substantial size it was important to set it within the garden without it being visually overbearing. It was also important to find a way to create a safe barrier around the pool and allow access only from one side, making it easier to keep an eye on small children that were playing in the garden.

It was soon decided that the best location would be near one of the side boundaries and underneath a well established oak tree.

I suggested digging down from the existing garden level, creating a new pool level, with hedges planted around the upper perimeter of the pool. This would visually shield the pool, but also create a windbreak and secure barrier. Wide steps would lead down into the pool area, which would lend the pool a grand entrance. The summerhouse would be simple and elegant, with sliding folding doors to open it up to the rest of the pool area. It would have a BBQ area immediately adjacent to it.

The pool and summerhouse have been completed.
