Austin Avenue

A loft conversion with a slight twist. The client wanted to add a loft bedroom and ensuite shower room but very much liked the roof shape of the existing building and didn't want to lose it altogether. The brief therefore was to design the dormer windows in such a way that a large part of existing roof remained untouched.

Firstly I added a dormer window to each side of the building. These lined up with the walls below. A third dormer was then positioned on the rear roof slope. This was set up from the eaves level. All dormers were tile-hung to match the look of the existing roof and small enough not too dominate it.

I submitted an application for a lawful development, we received confirmation from the local authority that the proposal complied and the construction stage could follow.

I produced construction drawings, submitted the building notice and liaised with the contractor and structural engineer.

The project has been completed.
